Gamesoundcon 2014
Thanks to the nice people at Scorbit i had the opportunity the attend this years GSC at Millenium Biltmore, Los Angeles. Lucky as i was, i won a ticket in their sound-design competition.
What was more than a pleasant surprise at first, turned out to be an overwhelming inspiration.
Not just that there where amazingly entertaining speakers, such as Dave Swenson who gave insight in his works on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
Certain lectures, such as the one given Dr. Perry Cook on Real-time Physics-based Sound Synthesis just blew my mind and everybody else’s. Especially coming from an academic background of multi-media composition i was not expecting to hear a speech on physical-modeling algorithms and filter models in the context games, my appreciation for his scientific efforts could´t be any higher.
Besides numerous excellent workshops i participated in the FMOD sessions with Stephan Schütze, who really got the listeners attention by his impressive enthusiastic approach and innovative thinking.
Brian Schmidt gave some great Speeches and presented himself as an excellent host of the event, but what made the event really special was the interesting mixture of people attending. I was able to make some great contacts, meet a lot of talented and friendly who i hope to see again very soon.
California, i will be coming back !
